Kamla Chowdhry Fellowships

The Anil Agarwal Green Centre (AAGC) offers students/young professionals the prestigious Kamla Chowdhry Fellowships to support their participation in, ‘Agenda for survival: A summer certificate course on policies, politics and practices of environmental management in India’.

Each fellowship is adjusted against the course fee.

Candidates are awarded these fellowships based on their performance in the entrance essays.

Preference is given to candidates from small towns and rural areas, and to those who aspire to pursue a career in environment and development.

The fellowship programme is supported by a generous endowment from the late Dr Kamla Chowdhry, who played a critical role in India’s environmental movement and deeply influenced international development efforts.

Dr Chowdhry helped establish many premier institutes of research and learning in India, including IIM-Ahmedabad, Institute of Rural Management, Anand, National Foundation of India, and the Society for the Promotion of Wastelands Development, among others.

A distinguished academic and an ardent Gandhian, Dr Chowdhry’s multifaceted interests spanned issues relating to forestry, ecology, environment, women’s rights and people’s participation.

CSE Media Fellowships

Since the 1980s, Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi, has been working towards integrating vital concerns that affect the lives and livelihoods of millions into the national debate -- especially through its media fellowships.

These fellowships offer journalists a unique opportunity to travel, research and report on key issues of environment and development.

CSE announces 1-2 fellowship programmes every year. The duration for each fellowship is one month, and the grant amount is Rs 40,000 per candidate. The number of grants in each fellowship ranges from 8-12.

CSE’s fellowships are open to active print journalists, photojournalists, freelance feature writers and reporters.

Selections for the grants are done by an independent jury consisting of eminent experts from each field.

Selected candidates are required to publish feature and news articles totalling 5,000 words or more in their respective publications.
