Not only are the tiny particles choking us, nitrogen dioxide levels have worsened; daily peaks of carbon monoxide are unacceptable, ozone pollution has persisted through the winter months. This has emerged from the official public information system on daily air pollution and monitoring. Some of these pollutants come predominantly from vehicles.
Time to breath easy is over, air pollution is reaching critical levels again this winter. CSE has reviewed the daily air quality data generated by the Central Pollution Control Board and others.

The latest Global Burden of Disease report, a global initiative involving a network of international health bodies and the World Health Organisation has shown outdoor air pollution as one of the top 10 killers in the world.
