Capacity Building

The main objectives under these programmes are to achieve

• improved capacities and understanding about issues sustainable urban water management and sustainable buildings among municipal functionaries/city administrators and reforms,

• increased knowledge about best practices on water/energy efficiency including water/energy conservation, rainwater harvesting and treatment and reuse of wastewater, planning and design with water – city/building scale and related reforms,

• develop capacity to plan, design and implement projects

US drug authority rejects petitions seeking ban on antibiotics in animal feed

Curbing use of antibiotics in animal feed can help reduce drug resistance in livestock and humans. But the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) clearly wasn't inclined to do so. On November 7, 2011, USFDA rejected two citizens' petitions seeking ban on use of antibiotics in animal feed or in water for purposes other than treatment of diseases. The petitions also sought withdrawal of approval for most uses of penicillin and tetracyclines in animal feed.
