The Crisis in African Agriculture

Media Consultation, Briefing and Writing-Reporting Workshop for Journalists from African Countries

September 14-15, 2017

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Africa has become a net importer of food – it reportedly spends US $35 billion a year on food imports. This is more than what the continent receives in total overseas development assistance. What has led to this state of affairs?

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a leading public research and advocacy organisation of the Global South based in New Delhi, India, invites journalists in Africa to apply for attending this two-day series of consultations, discussions, briefings and skill-enhancement workshops. Scheduled to be held in Addis Ababa, the event will focus on the state of agriculture in Africa and its linkages to the changing climate in the region.

A special edition of Down To Earth, the environment-development fortnightly, would be released on the occasion.
