Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), is an established non-profit institution known for its rigorous and scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues.
The centre is looking for suitable candidates to work for its Water Programme. The six core initiatives of programme include – green rural development, urban lakes conservation and rainwater harvesting, water sensitive design and planning, decentralised wastewater management and pollution control including septage/ faecal sludge management. Capacity development of practitioner’s both state and non-state (training government officials, academicians, regulators, implementers and students), technical support and demonstration initiatives are an integral part of the programme.
The candidate will mainly coordinate capacitating Urban Local Bodies and other stakeholders in the Ganga basin on small scale, on site wastewater and septage management systems and research on technology options, knowledge support in demonstration projects. This involves working closely with CSE Pollution Monitoring Lab team involved in developing testing protocols and validation system for setting up of a state of art independent wastewater and faecal sludge laboratory.
This is a senior level high-visibility and high-impact position. The candidate will report to the Programme Director – Water Management and will be responsible for coordinating a team of 8-10 researchers/ trainers involved to develop training modules, organize trainings as well as policy advocacy meetings, seminars/workshops for mainstreaming best management in sustainable water management area in both rural and urban context - across India, South Asia and Africa.
Qualification & Experience: We need Civil Engineers, Planners/ Architects or Post graduate in Environment or related field with at least 8-10 years work experience. Candidate should have experience of policy research, advocacy and training. He/she should also have a good working understanding of other organizations groups, and individuals in the water and sanitation sector including government policies/ reforms in both urban and rural water sector.
The candidate should be able to work in tight-knit and dynamic team that works on wide range of issues related to urban and rural water management. He/she should have strong networking and liaising skills, willingness to travel and fluency in both written and spoken English/Hindi.
Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
