Sustainable Urban Water Management: 2011- 2012: Policies and Practices
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a New Delhi based research and policy advocacy organization has been working on water issues since the early 80s. The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India has nominated CSE as a Centre of Excellence in the area of “Sustainable Water Management”.
Urban India faces a huge water crisis. Harvesting rainwater can substantially increase the availability of water where supplies are scarce and become an economical and ecological benefit. CSE is organizing the following training programmes that focus on these issues that are part of the reform process under JNNURM:
URBAN RAINWATER HARVESTING:
4 days programme focusing on how municipalities can augment their water availability by using public spaces to recharge their groundwater and to bring in required laws to enable individuals to undertake rainwater harvesting. The participants will get the opportunity to learn from the experiences of officials, technical experts and civil society members who have actually implemented the programme.
