Strategies to reduce crop residue burning for air pollution mitigation: Key highlights

About the policy brief:

"The issue of crop reside burning has in recent years been identified as one of the leading factors affecting the air quality of Delhi & NCR. Not just this, it has also been affecting the health of those exposed directly to such crop fires and also to those in urban areas surrounding the site of these fires. This Policy Brief prepared for the Central Govt. highlights some of the main causes of crop residue burning and recommends policy reforms and executive action required to remediate pollution caused by these fires."

District Mineral Foundations Implementation Status, Challenges and Opportunities

Regional Meeting: Bhubaneswar, Odisha, July 28, 2017

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) organized a multi stakeholder meeting in Bhubaneswar Odisha, to review the implementation of status of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) in key mining districts of India, with a specific focus on Odisha, and discuss strategies to maximize the potential of DMFs.

The meeting was attended by the concerned state department officials, district officials, planning experts and civil society members.

Training Programme on Sanitation Safety Planning, June 27-30, 2017

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India in collaboration with Word Health Organisation (WHO) conducted a four day training programme on “Sanitation Safety Planning (SSP)” from 27-30th June, 2017.  30 practitioners from India and abroad (Rwanda, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Kenya and Ghana) participated in the training programme to learn about SSP as a tool that provides a structure to bring together actors and stakeholders from various sectors to identify health risks in the sanitation systems and agree on improvements and regular monitoring.
