Training Programme on Sanitation Safety Planning, June 27-30, 2017

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India in collaboration with Word Health Organisation (WHO) conducted a four day training programme on “Sanitation Safety Planning (SSP)” from 27-30th June, 2017.  30 practitioners from India and abroad (Rwanda, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Kenya and Ghana) participated in the training programme to learn about SSP as a tool that provides a structure to bring together actors and stakeholders from various sectors to identify health risks in the sanitation systems and agree on improvements and regular monitoring.

Meeting and Book Release of ‘Not in my Backyard’ in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, 16th March, 2017

A one day meeting on Solid Waste Management was conducted in association with Kerala’s Sanitation Programme, called Suchitwa Mission on 16th March, 2017 in Padmam Auditorium, Institute of Management in Government (IMG), Thiruvananthapuram.

The meeting received good participation from urban local bodies (ULBs) from Kerala and other South Indian States - Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Also, other stakeholders such as representatives from local government, officials from Suchitwa Mission, academicians and NGOs attended the programme.

International Training Programme on Water Sensitive Urban Design and Planning in Kenya, January 16-20, 2017

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India in collaboration with Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) conducted a five day international training programme on “Water Sensitive Urban Design and Planning (WSUDP)” from 16-20th January, 2017.  27 state and non-state practitioners across seven African countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Malawi, Somalia and Gambia) participated in the training programme to learn about WSUDP as an approach to identify rainwater, storm water and waste water as resource rather than nuisance.
