  • Panaji, Goa, August 13-14, 2010

Indian coasts are doubly vulnerable today. On one hand, they are facing unprecedented pressures from industrial and urban development. On the other, they are threatened by climate change-related devastation. Fishing communities which inhabit these coastal areas are being hit by a similar double-whammy – ironically, from conservation on one hand and development on the other.

  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an important tool to inform decision-makers, regulators and stakeholders, about the possible environmental, social and economic costs of the proposed project. To be effective, it requires the active involvement of all concerned stakeholders.

  • Date: August 24 - 28, 2010
