Waste water from bathroom, laundry and kitchen is first collected in the collection sump. This grey water is sprinkled on the filtering tank planted with Canna indica and filled with ecofert material, sand, small stones and dried leaves. The filtered water is collected in a tank from where it is lifted using bicycle operated pump and reused for gardening. The system receives about 250-300 litres of water per day. Gambusia fish in the storage sump keeps a check on the quality of the treated wastewater.
