Anil Agarwal Dialogue

Anil Agarwal Dialogue on Green Clearances

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you to the second Anil Agarwal Dialogue on Green Clearances, to be held in New Delhi from February 24-25, 2012. The Dialogue aims to bring to the fore the various issues and concerns related to environmental and forest clearances in India.

A viewpoint that has been currently voiced in some forums in the country is that environmental and forest clearances are hampering economic development by delaying projects. CSE has carried out a detailed and comprehensive analysis of the clearances granted in the last five years – the findings are nothing less than startling.

In the last five years – says the CSE analysis – the country has seen more clearances than those planned for even during the 11th and 12th Five Year Plans.

The Dialogue is being planned in an effort to take these findings forward. We are hoping to bring together all the stakeholders in this debate -- the government, the civil society and industry -- on one platform to discuss clearance processes, whether these processes are working, and what they aim to achieve.
