Concern over poor air quality and traffic congestion in Gurgaon: action must gather momentum to protect public health

  • Gurgaon, planned as a counter magnet to decongest Delhi, is in grip of deadly pollution and congestion. This has emerged from the collaborative workshop of the Artemis Hospital and Centre for Science and Environment Our City, We Care: Action for Cleaner Air, held in Gurgaon today.

So that we can breathe easy

THE EASIEST way to clear air pollution is to not know how bad it is. This is what India practices—in most parts of the country. There is virtually no equipment to monitor the air we breathe and no system that tells us what we should do when pollution levels are up and unhealthy.

Centre for Science and Environment releases stunning data on the daily dose of polluted air that people breathe in Delhi

Monitors real-time individual exposure of people. Finds exposure levels much higher than ambient exposure levels measured by the government’s regulatory agencies
