WHAT WE TEST: AIR POLLUTION

The CSE laboratory can monitor the following pollutants in ambient air

• Suspended particulate matter

• Respirable suspended particulate matter

• Nitrogen di-oxide

• Sulphur di-oxide

WHAT WE TEST: PESTICIDES

The CSE Lab analyses the following groups of widely used pesticides in India

Chlorinated hydrocarbons such as DDT, DDD, DDE, g-HCH, lindane, aldrin, dieldrin, a, b - endosulphan, endosulphan sulphate and heptachlor, etc.

Organophosphorus pesticides like dimethoate diazinon, phosphamidon, methyl parathion malathion, monocrotophos, chlorpyriphos etc.

Carbamates like carbaryl, carbofuran, aldicarb, oxamyl, methomyl etc.

Subterranean Leak

Centre for Science and Environment’s Pollution Monitoring Lab (PML) tested water and soil samples from in and around the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) factory for the presence of toxic chemicals

Homicide by Pesticides

A collection of articles on the threat posed to public health by pesticide residues and industrial toxins. From the economic costs of pollution to the health threats posed by the growing contamination of soil, air groundwater and river systems in India.
