Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), is an established non-profit institution known for its rigorous and scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues.
The centre is looking for suitable candidates to work for its Water Programme. The programme aims to establish policy principles, innovative technologies and implementation strategies for water and wastewater management – these efforts have been directed towards meeting the twin goals of laying foundation for water prudent society and adapting for climate resilience.
The six core initiatives of programme include – green rural development, urban lakes conservation and rainwater harvesting, water sensitive design and planning, decentralised wastewater management and pollution control including septage management. Capacity development (training government officials, academicians, regulators, implementers and students), technical support and demonstration initiatives are an integral part of the programme.
The centre is a designated Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Sustainable Water Management area of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India for research, knowledge dissemination, training and capacity building for municipal functionaries. Also the centre is designated National Key Resource Centre (KRC) of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India assisting in capacity building of state rural water and sanitation functionaries including Panchayat Raj Institutions.
This is a senior level high-visibility and high-impact position that entails high-quality applied research and capacity development activities for mainstreaming best management practices aimed at promoting sustainable water management in both rural and urban context. The programme is expanding its work across India, South Asia and Africa for which it requires:
We need Engineers, Planners/ Architects or Post graduate in Environment or related field with at least 7-10 years work experience. He/she should be able to lead a team of 5-7 researchers and develop training modules and kits, organize trainings, roundtables meetings, seminars/workshops on various themes.
Candidate will be required to prepare sector specific practitioner’s guides and train people on the modules developed. He/she should also have a good working understanding of other organizations groups, and individuals in the water sector including government policies / reforms in both urban and rural water sector.
The candidate should be able to work in tight-knit and dynamic team that works on wide range of issues related to urban and rural water management. He/she should have strong networking and liaising skills, willingness to travel and fluency in both written and spoken English/Hindi.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and will match industry standards.
