At CSE, the function of buildings is primarily designed for in-house scientific and environmental research and publications on issues pertaining to the environment and development of national and international significance.
The Organization is also very proactive in implementing one of the first renewable energy of 10 kWp at site-level to generate awareness in Low Carbon and Sustainable Technologies that is evident in its core objective too.
CSE’s integrated sustainable building design and modern built form displays the organization’s overall commitment towards the sustainable development.
The Center for Science and Environment (CSE) old building and Anil Agarwal Green College (AAGC), both building and Anil Agarwal Green College (AAGC), both buildings are designed for optimum energy usage, natural resource conservation and recycling in the whole building performance. Both buildings are institutional; old building CSE and new building AAGC commenced in 2004, both with plot area of 1000m2 (45M X 22.2M) size each. The building design exhibits efficient use of green building materials, mix of passive and active cooling techniques and insulation, proactive rainwater harvesting techniques and waste-water recycle, integrated building photovoltaic, and energy efficiency.
CSE moves to its new home in the Tughlakabad Institutional Area, 1992. The original old building and new AAGC exhibit the Green Building features designed by Vastu Shilpa Consultants, Ahmedabad. The building was designed by the renowned Ahmedabad-based architects, Radhika Doshi Katpalia and B V Doshi. The old building five-storied structure is spread over 1000 m2. The buildings were designed according to the green building design compliance criteria used in rating system. Following are the green building compliance criteria.

Centre for Science and Environment is organizing “Regional Dialogue on Sustainable Buildings” in collaboration with the Bhubaneswar Urban Development Authority (BDA) in Bhubaneswar on December 13 at 9.30 am in Hotel Mayfair. This is an experience dialogue on the strategies on green buildings to improve energy and resource efficiency in building construction and usage.
