The number of swamp deer has increased in the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve (SWR) this year, officials said.
According to a recent census carried out by the SWR, the number of deer species, also known as barasingha locally, was 1,825 last year while the figure stood at 2,170 this year. According to SWR officials, of the total swamp deer in the reserve, 505 are male, 1280 female and 385 baby deer.
