Guidelines for Biomedical Waste Disposal

New Delhi, August 28: Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India has notified Bio-medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules in 1998, as amended in the years 2000 & 2003, to provide a regulatory framework for segregation, transportation, storage, treatment and disposal of the bio-medical waste generated from the Health Care Facilities (HCFs) in the country so as to avoid adverse impact on human health and environment. 

SC directs environmental standard compliance probe against Sterlite

Tuticorin, August 27: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Central Pollution Control Board and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) to investigate compliance of emission control and effluent treatment measures applicable for Sterlite Industries’ copper smelting plant at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu.
