Training programme on Environmental and Social in Project Financing Feb.5-6, 2016

A two-day training programme on Environmental and Social (E&S) Responsibility in Project Financing was conducted by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi, India in collaboration with the IIM, Kashipur and the World Bank Group.

Roadmap for Brick Kiln Sector: Challenges and Opportunities February 8, 2016

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) organized a one day workshop on “Roadmap for Brick Kiln Sector: Challenges and Opportunities” held on 8th February, 2016 at Magnolia Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The workshop received an overwhelming response from the different stake holders including officers from State Pollution Control Board, researchers and brick kiln experts. More than 50 participants attended the workshop.

Wastewater and FSM lab

 Set up a state-of-art, independent laboratory to develop testing protocols and validation system for wastewater and faecal sludge treatment

Research and Ganga monitoring plan

 Provide research-based solutions on technology options, knowledge support on demonstration projects, and assist in developing protocols for waste/ FSM: 

Capacitating public functionaries and institutions on wastewater and septage management

This chiefly involves measures to provide training and handholding support to urban local bodies and other key stakeholders from 10 small / medium-sized cities in the Ganga basin in preparing City Sanitation Plan (CSP) with decentralised wastewater treatment, septage management. 

Environmental Clearance November-December 2015

CSE analysed the status of environmental clearances (ECs) for the period November – December 2015 cleared by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). Analysis of clearances for certain development sectors including mining, iron and steel, and cement suggested that a total of 29 projects were cleared during this period. Data from the EC letters made available by the MoEF&CC as of 15th January, 2016 has been used for the analysis.
