Training Program on Preparation of City Sanitation Plan City’s Journey Beyond ODF- Part I

September 20-22, 2016 (Patna, Bihar)

The first handholding training on the “Preparation of City Sanitation Plan (CSP)- Part I” took place at Hotel Chanakya, Patna, Bihar from 20-22 September, 2016. 

The training is part of a five stage handholding process for the preparation of CSPs for select Ganga basin cities.

Training of Trainers (ToT) on “Preparation of excreta flow diagram (Shit Flow Diagram-SFD)” on 07-08 September 2016

Water Programme team conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT), under SFD Promotion Initiative. The training was held from 7th to 8th of September 2016. The purpose of this ToT was to endow the trainers with SFD tool working in the WASH sector. The aim of the training was to capacitate sector plays and have multipliers who could use SFDs as an advocacy and intervention tool in septage management to achieve SDGs. There were 22 participants from national and international organisations. Four international participants were from Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) and Water Aid Bangladesh.

Stakeholder Consultation Workshop in Zanzibar, 29th August, 2016

A six day scoping visit was made in Zanzibar to understand the existing issues and challenges in the island concerning waste and wastewater management, tourism sector, forestry and climate change; and compliance and enforcement. On 29th August, 2016, a half day stakeholder consultation workshop was organized by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi and Zanzibar Environment Management Authority (ZEMA) to discuss the major findings of the scoping visit done by CSE staff and to finalise the major areas of future intervention.

District Mineral Foundation: Implementation and the Road Ahead

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organizing a three day (September 15-17) event in Jharkhand to discuss various issues with respect to implementation of District Mineral Foundations (DMF) and the road ahead for DMFs to become successful.

New Environmental Norms: Way forward

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is convening a meeting to discuss the status of preparedness, hindrances and support required from government to comply with the recently notified environmental norms for coal based thermal power stations.  The dialogue is convened to arrive at a roadmap to expedite the implementation of the recently notified environmental standards for coal power station by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
