Orientation Programme on Managing Urban Air Quality: Focus on Clean Vehicle Technology and Fuels: May 18 – 20, 2011

     
The orientation programme from May 18 – 20, 2011 that has just closed has brought together a select group of officials from state pollution control boards and transport departments of different cities. They include Kathmandu; Bangalore; Indore; Ghaziabad; Noida, Uttar Pradesh; Faridabad, Haryana; Hassan, Karnataka; Hyderabad; Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu; Thiruppur, Tamil Nadu; Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This forum is designed to promote good regulatory practices in air quality management, clean vehicle technology, fuels and management of in-use fleet and mobility management.

  • We are delighted to inform you that the training and capacity building programmes for State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) and Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) done by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) have successfully completed two and a half years.

  • With industrialization and development, there is a growing concern over the hazardous waste generation. The levels of dangerous wastes continue to grow. Industries and individuals continue to be largely unaware of this major environmental problem. With pitiable landfill management facilities there is a growing concern over the management of hazardous waste.

  • In the last decade installation of wind power has increased manifolds in the country. As of March 2013, the total installed capacity of wind power in the country is 19051 MW.
