Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) carried out a technical analysis of the EIA report of the expansion project of thermal power plant of M/s Korba West Power Company Limited. The analysis was carried out on the request of Raghuvir Pradhan of Ekta Parishad. The public hearing for the project was scheduled on February 9, 2012.
Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) is planning to set up a thermal power plant in village Dongamahua, located in Raigarh district of Chattisgarh. On behalf of the local community there, two activists (from Ekta Parishad and Jan Chetna) requested the Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi, to technically evaluate the Rapid Environment Impact Assessment done for the project.
The M/s Korba West Power Company Limited. is planning to set up a thermal power plant of 600 MW (2 x 300) coal based thermal Power Plant at Village-Bade Bhandar, District-Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The EIA has been prepared by the Nagpur -based consultant, Anacon Laboratries PvT. Ltd. The study area for the EIA study is 10-km radius.
An expansion of existing plant to produce 97,000 TPA of MS Billets and 65 MW of Power Generation is being proposed by M/s Salasar Steel and Power Limited.
