Our main objective is to help the country in developing and implementing a sound renewable energy policy and programmes that can lead to large-scale deployment of renewable energy technologies in different sectors of the economy to meet the twin objective of combating climate change on one hand and energy security, on the other.

The Union ministry of new and renewable energy has approved a Rs 1028.47-crore master plan submitted to it by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to make Guwahati a solar city.

A senior GMC official said the ministry recently approved the master plan of the solar city project, which was submitted in September, 2011. “With approval of the plan the corporation will initiate the next course of action,” he said.
