Head for Renewable Energy Programme

The Centre for Science and Environment is known for its rigorous and scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental and policy issues. The Centre needs an experienced research professional to lead its Renewable Energy programme to work in the following areas:

  • Research, writing and networking on issues related to renewable energy and energy efficiency

  • Research, writing and advocacy to push for socio-economically just and environmentally sustainable renewable energy policy and practices in the country

Work profile :

  • Lead a team of research professionals in the concerned areas

  • Carry out economic analysis of different policy options and schemes

  • Use field-based research to identify problem areas for clean energy promotion and communicate it clearly with appropriate solutions

  • Examining socio-environmental dimension of energy systems

  • Writing and producing regular updates on key renewable energy sectors

  • Organising meetings, conferences and training sessions

  • Networking and corresponding with national and international policy makers, scientists, academics, experts, NGOs and media

  • Generating periodic reports on team’s activities and impacts to funding agencies

Candidates must have following skills:

  • Practical research inclination with independent view on how to promote renewable energy and climate policies in India

  • Excellent analytical ability

  • Prior experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency fields

  • Basic understanding of key issues in power, industry and commercial sectors.

  • Have a clear understanding of electrical grid systems, tariff policy, electricity regulatory framework and incentive structures in India

  • Good report writing and presentation skills

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) and an ability to comprehend and critique reports with clarity.

  • Background in clean energy, developmental politics or climate change policy.

Educational Qualification and Experience:

We are looking for research professionals with minimum 6 to 10 years of experience that includes a significant tenure in the above mentioned fields. Candidates should have advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Engineering, Science or Economics from a premier educational institute.

CSE has an excellent institutional structure and facility in place to undertake high quality practical research and advocacy. Salary will  commensurate with experience.
