22 Senior Officers of the Central Public Works Department including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineers and Architects have attended a 3-day Training Programme on Green Buildings: Policy and Practices organised by CSE at the Department's Training Institute in Ghaziabad. The participants were apprised of Environment Impact Assessment requirements for buildings, Energy Conservation Building Code Compliance and various design and equipment options for energy efficient buildings. A one-day demonstration was arranged for software-based simulation of designs for checking code compliance. Participants were also take to an ambitious green building project of the Government, the Indira Paryavaran Bhawan where the Ministry of Environment & Forests is trying to meet a net-zero energy building target. The participants highly appreciated the CSE buildings which have been designed to conserve energy, water and materials. Further, they took it upon themselves to implement such systems as rain water harvesting, waste water treatment and solid waste management in government projects.
