The treatment plant receiving wastewater from 3 slum colonies (i.e. Sanjay Nagar, Sandhya Society and Gavali wada) located at 1 Km Upstream of Bagul Udyan. The wastewater from colonies conveyed through gravity with the help of HDPE pipes. Before construction of STP, all wastewater as well as sewage was being disposed into Ambil Odha Nalla and further nalla was mixing up with Mutha River. |

The technology contains filter media with specially breed earth worms, which helps in degrading organic waste from wastewater at rapid rate. This helps in eliminating need of forced aeration using blower. The worms convert organic matter into valuable compost which can be directly used as a fertilizer. The Biofilter is assembled in three stages: a sewage sump, leading to the biofilter (loaded with layers of bio-media and earthworms). Unique set-up of the treatment plant introduces a "trickling" action of the wastewater. As wastewater passes through the bio-media, it dissolves oxygen into it. The inorganic waste in the water is removed by physical filtration. The organic waste matter is digested and metabolized by the earthworms and microorganisms. The treated Water from the end unit is being used for gardening and irrigation purpose. |
