Advanced Residential Training Programme on Urban Waterbodies Rejuvenation and Management

Background

CSE - School of Water and Waste (SW&W) aims to establish policy principles, innovative technologies, and implementation strategies for city wide water and sanitation management, which will lay the foundations for a water and waste-prudent society. CSE also assists Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India as a Centre of Excellence in the area of sustainable urban water management aimed at mainstreaming reforms and capacity building of state/city officials.

Both centre/ state governments and local bodies have included urban waterbodies rejuvenation in programmes, policies and advisories as major reform agenda to address issues related to urban flooding, local water-supply resource enhancement, and to repair the broken water cycle in town/cities. Urban waterbodies management involves various soft and hard interventions for catchment area management, buffer area design, pollution abatement in waterbodies and effective stakeholder engagement to revive waterbodies as critical green infrastructure which not only helps in building urban resilience but also improves liveability in towns/cities, particularly when considered part of an overall urban strategy.

Aim

Recently completed this 'Advanced training program on Urban Waterbodies Rejuvenation and Management' conducted by Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi. A well-designed program. The participants of the program were a good mix of people from the public, private, and government sectors. This experience will definitely help me in my future projects. With the deteriorated condition of urban water bodies in India at present, this program provides valuable inputs for changing this scenario. Thanks for the team’s efforts. Would love to come again for next training.

A great course to upgrade my learning from used water perspective to the impact on water bodies and their rejuvenation strategies. Doing the course with government officials and other participants gave me a view of their way of working and implementation style. Looking forward to more learning and execution opportunities.
