Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organising a workshop for educational institutions of Agra to help them assess and understand their roles and responsibilities as bulk waste generators (BWGs). Supported by the Agra Nagar Nigam, this workshop will help build capacity of educational institutions identified as BWGs by the Nagar Nigam to manage their solid waste effectively and efficiently.
Ankit Khandelwal, Municipal Commissioner, Agra is expected to inaugurate the workshop, which is one of a series of awareness building and training events and initiatives that CSE and the Nagar Nigam are collaborating on.
The workshop will also include an orientation lecture on CSE’s Green Schools Programme (GSP). This is a unique, free initiative from CSE to help schools assess and audit their environmental footprints on a number of issues – including solid waste management – and improve on them. The programme has been running successfully in over 7,000 schools across India for more than 20 years.
