GREEN RATING NETWORK is a countrywide network of volunteers of Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi (CSE). The volunteers are authorized representatives under CSE’s two-decade old Green Rating Project (GRP), which carries out the study of large industrial sectors in the country in order to analyze their environmental performance and encourage them to adopt sustainable practices.
CSE will assign companies to GRN volunteers that they will need to survey and to collect information on. As the scale of the work is significant, the cooperation and input of GRN volunteers plays a key role in the success of this widely recognized project.
GRN includes professionals, academicians, students, NGOs and other interested people who understand the thermal power industry or wish to contribute towards its rating. The volunteers will be short-listed on the basis of their qualifications and proximity to the targeted companies.
We are looking for volunteers who are based close to the following locations:
1. Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh
2. Jharsuguda, Odisha
3. Angul, Odisha
4. Raichur, Karnataka
5. Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu
6. Udupi, Karnataka
7. Hisar, Haryana
What does CSE expect from GRN?
CSE considers GRN survey an important part of the project and, therefore, it does not restrict them to simple data collection work. The volunteers are expected to inspect plant operations, take photographs, interview community people, pollution control board officials, and local media personnel and prepare a report on the survey. CSE provides the necessary support to GRN member to enable them to conduct the survey.
What does the GRN volunteer get?
1. Knowledge of the industrial operations and relevant environmental concerns
2. A letter of appreciation from CSE upon satisfactory completion of the survey
3. Honorarium - a token of appreciation from CSE
4. Reimbursement of expenses on transport, accommodation, food and other incidentals incurred on the survey.
