The Impact Assessment team conducted a capacity building programme on ‘Environmental and Social Impact Assessment in Mines’ from May 13 to 21, 2019. The programme was conducted under the Zambia – Mining and Environmental Remediation and Improvement Project (ZMERIP), which is a project between The World Bank and Government of Zambia. The objective of the programme was to build capacities of officials to reduce environmental and health risks to the local population in critically polluted mining areas in Zambia. The programme included a site visits to a limestone mine in Durg district, Chhattisgarh, and a copper mine in Balaghat district, Madhya Pradesh.
