Consultative Meeting for Mainstreaming Co-Treatment of Faecal Sludge and Septage (FSS) in STPs in Uttar Pradesh

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organizing a Consultative Meeting for Mainstreaming Co-Treatment of FSS in STPs in Uttar Pradesh. This is part of CSE’s Programme Support Unit (PSU) – Lucknow’s series of event planned for mainstreaming effective Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) in the state. CSE is also providing Technical Support for effective FSSM in Bijnor and Chunar.

The main theme of the consultative meeting is ‘Issues and challenges in scaling-up of Co-Treatment of FSS in STPsacross the state’. CSE shallpresentkey findingsfrom its draft Report on ‘Mainstreaming of Co-Treatment of Faecal Sludge and Septage (FSS) in STPs in Uttar Pradesh’. Thepoints for discussion in the meeting include:

  1. Issues and concern in Co-Treatment of FSS in STPs
  2. An analysis of various options for Co-Treatment of FSS
  3. Analysis ‘Co-Treatment in Bharwara STP: Lucknow’
  4. Models for Implementation: Scaling-up Co-Treatment in STPs in Uttar Pradesh

The meeting would be Chaired by Principal Secretary, Department of Urban Development (Govt.of U.P.). Officials attending the Consultative Meeting include:

  • State Mission Director, AMRUT (Govt. of U.P.)
  • Managing Director, Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam
  • Director Local Bodies (Govt. of U.P.)
  • Engineers from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam implementing Co-Treatment in their respective plants.
  • State PMU officials from PDMC (AMRUT Mission) and State Mission for Clean Ganga
