Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) and Down To Earth participated in the Fourth African Conference of Science Journalists, which was organised as a virtual event by MESHA-Kenya, the Nairobi-based media collective which CSE has often partnered with. A one-hour exclusive session titled 'The century's longest assignment -- covering COVID-19 and its impacts' was conducted by CSE on November 17, with three speakers making individual presentations. These presentations primarily focused on how DTE brought forth a unique perspective on the pandemic through its coverage using interesting ideas (such as the 1,000-km Odyssey of its correspondent Vivek Mishra with migrant labourers and workers walking back to their homes), as well as understanding how the post-lockdown coverage should evolve and what are the new -- but related -- stories that can be looked at.
