CSE @ Food Systems Dialogue India 2023: Addressing antibiotic misuse in food systems

Dr A V Hari Kumar has a Masters in Veterinary Science with over three decades of experience in the field. He is currently working in the capacity of Deputy General Manager and Group Head, Animal Health Group in NDDB. He was pivotal in framing the biosecurity protocols and guidelines for semen stations in the country and also in conceptualizing the Information Network on Animal Productivity and Health (INAPH) software. He played a significant role in the import of HF and Jersey bull calves into the country. He also specializes in formulating holistic, farmer-centric, cost effective disease control models appropriate to the Indian context which has been presented in various international forums. He has formulated and is implementing “One Health” models for economically important diseases like brucellosis and mastitis.

He has contributed immensely in developing extension tools to increase awareness on animal health issues and, propagation of ethnoveterinary practices amongst dairy farmers in India.

Dr Amit Kumar, Professor & Head, Division of Animal Biotechnology, College of Biotechnology at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut, India is a veterinary microbiologist working in the field of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) for more than 15 years and currently his focus is on the development of alternate therapy by exploiting quorum sensing mechanism of drug resistant bacteria to mitigate anti microbial resistance. He has developed two novel poly herbal formulations for the prevention and cure of bovine anaplasmosis and brucellosis and published more than 100 research papers in the journal of national as well as international reputes.

Dr. P. Anand Kumar graduated in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry from College of Veterinary Science, Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Tirupati A.P. India in 1993 (1988-93).

Completed Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Veterinary Immunology from Indian Veterinary research Institute, Izatnagar in 1995 (1993 -95) and 1999 (1995-99), respectively.

Presently working as Professor of Veterinary Microbiology at NTR College of Veterinary Science, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Gannavaram, Andhra Pradesh.

Research expertise and research areas of interest: Immunology of infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), anti-microbial and immunomodulatory properties of natural products and diagnostics.

Teaching and research experience: 22 years with 32 research publications In AMR surveillance domain executed “Indo-Dutch pilot project on AMR under One Health in Krishna Dist. of A.P” and associated with ICAR-FAO coordinated National programme “Indian Network for Fisheries and Animals Antimicrobial Resistance (INFAAR)”.

Trained by FAO on “Assessment Tool for Laboratories and Anti-Microbial Resistance Surveillance Systems” (ATLASS).

Subject expert member of State AMR Cell constituted by Govt. of Andhra Pradesh to monitor the progress of Andhra Pradesh Action Plan for Containment of AMR (APAPCAR).

Avinash has 30+ years of work experience across a wide range of functions including Supply chain, Procurement and Trading, Manufacturing, General Management, and as an Entrepreneur.

He joined in the current with Jubilant FoodWorks Limited, in February 2015. and is instrumental in transformation of Supply Chain and Quality Assurance, procurement of all direct and indirect products and services, all India manufacturing and distribution of perishable food products to restaurants located in multiple temperature zone from 8 commissaries to 387+ towns and 1,800+ restaurants. Avinash also leads other verticals of the business such as International Business, Projects, Quality / Food Safety / Regulatory affairs & Corporate Social Responsibility.

Prior to joining Jubilant FoodWorks, he was associated with in FMCG and Retail industry. Avinash was heading the Supply Chain and International Trade for McCain Foods India Pvt. Ltd.; spent 8 years in P&G in various roles across Planning, Supply Chain & Manufacturing; 5 years at Coca Cola India as a Procurement Head; 2+ years at Reliance Retail, setting up the supply chain for staples category; 4 years at Al Foah Co. UAE, set up their Indian subsidiary; 2+ years in own venture.

Avinash holds a Bachelor of Technology, Electrical Engineering, from IIT Kharagpur and Post-Graduation in Industrial Engineering from NITIE, Mumbai.

In personal front, he is married to Nidhi has a son, Archit.
