Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India in collaboration with Environment Protection Agency (EPA), Ghana is conducting a PAN-Africa workshop on Industrial Waste circularity on July 30, 2024 at Accra, Ghana
Circular Economy has become the most focused agenda globally in the recent decade. With the challenges of limited natural resources and a threat of their depletion, an urgency has been developed to find an alternative to natural resources and thus the world is shifting its focus on recycling and reusing of waste to lighten its dependency on natural resources. This approach also helps in reducing the overall GHG emissions and thus aids in achieving the net zero targets for the countries.
The proposed PAN-Africa workshop is an initiation of a dialogue towards the need and possibilities of including industrial waste in the circular economy. The workshop aims to understand current practices undertaken in various African countries in terms of industrial waste and the policies/initiatives implemented at the country level.
With partners from different African countries, the workshop is also an attempt to learn and discuss possibilities of utilizing various industrial waste in order to minimize its disposal to landfill and promote a circular economy and meet the SDG goals.
