Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar has received a Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) grant, which will be utilised to establish a Centre for Sustainable Habitat (CSH). CSE, as part of its ongoing collaboration with the university, will help set up this Centre. Under a MoU signed between the two institutions, CSE is part of the academic committee at the university. The university will invest Rs 10 crore for research and training activities at the CSH.
The university is already net energy positive (generates solar energy). It manages its solid waste and wastewater on-site, harvests rainwater, and encourages non-motorised mobility through a stringent no-vehicle policy, campus bike sharing systems, etc. The university aims at propagating sustainability education and practices beyond academics and in the wider society.
