CSE to launch its dashboard on India’s voluntary carbon market

While India has been emerging as a key player in the booming voluntary carbon market (VCM) business, a 2023 Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) report – Discredited – had uncovered serious issues and transparency gaps in the sector. One of the concerns that the report highlighted was an almost complete lack of credible information and data.

To fill this gap, CSE has now created a public dashboard that lists all the carbon offset projects across India listed on the two major registries – Verra and Gold Standard. The dashboard shows which states the projects are located in, sectors that are covered, how many carbon credits have been issued, and who is buying them – making it an excellent one-of-its-kind resource to find out about, monitor, and track the voluntary carbon market in the country.

We invite you to an official launch of the dashboard, where we will walk you through it and help you use it effectively. If you would like to explore the dashboard before we meet, you can find it here: https://www.cseindia.org/page/projectssector

WHAT WE WOULD COVER IN THE WEBINAR

  • How the voluntary carbon market operates in India
  • What our dashboard shows and how to interpret the data
  • How to use the dashboard to track specific projects, developers and trends
  • What would be the right questions to ask about integrity, transparency and quality in the voluntary carbon market
