Reporting on the Himalayan ecosystem: Challenges and opportunities
Date: October 9-10, 2015
Venue: Indian Forest Research Institute conference hall Dehradun, Uttarakhand
The Himalayas and the cities and towns that they tower over have been at the receiving end of various kinds of environmental threats – unplanned urban growth, depleting reserves of natural resources like water and forests, growing pollution of air and water, and disastrous impacts of a changing climate.
Do we understand the enormity of these problems? Are we doing anything to tackle them? How do we report on such issues and concerns? Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you to a Regional Media Briefing to discuss environment and development issues relevant to Himalayan regions, and the craft of reporting on them.
This briefing is open for journalists working in towns and cities in the Himalayan region or the foothills, from the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Punjab, UP, Bihar, Assam and West Bengal.
We have limited seats – therefore, please send a mail immediately to the undersigned expressing your interest in participation and your details. CSE will reimburse travel costs and take care of the accommodation of the shortlisted participants.
