Decentralised Wastewater Treatment & Reuse Training Programme for Municipal Functionaries

SUSTAINABLE URBAN WATER MANAGEMENT: POLICIES AND PRACTICES

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a research based and policy advocacy organization has been working on water issues since early 80s. The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India has nominated CSE as a Centre of Excellence in the area of “Sustainable Water Management”.

The urban sector of India is water stressed, unable to cope with the water demand of the growing urban populations due to scarcity and mismanagement. There is an urgent need for the urban cities to look for options for augmenting water supply that are economical and have ecological benefit. CSE recognizes this need and is organizing a training program for officials (engineers, architects, urban planners) from municipalities, development authorities, utility providers and other concerned departments, to develop their capacity in understanding of various sustainable and affordable approaches in treating wastewater.

DECENTRALIZED WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND REUSE:
4 days programme focusing on how municipalities can establish decentralized wastewater treatment systems, (DWWTS) that would facilitate recycling and reuse of water. It will include hands on training for planning, designing implementation of DWWTS and monitoring interactive seminars, detailed case studies, field trips and class room instructions.
