Domestic Hazardous Waste

More than the quantity, it is the hazardous potential that makes Domestic hazardous waste a unique stream in the overall gamut of municipal solid waste. While it is generated in lesser quantities compared to other waste fractions, the potential risks to the environment and human health are disproportionate to its quantum. It could be lethal when given a chance to react with other material in common landfills. This is why this report makes a case for addressing this waste stream separately and demands an efficient system of segregation and collection as well as scientific disposal in an environmentally sound manner.
