Electric Vehicles and Circular Economy – Implementing Battery Waste Management Rules for re-use and recycling of end-of-life EV batteries

Centre for Science and Environment is organising a three-day residential training programme to sensitise concerned regulators and stakeholders from Indian states on the Battery Waste Management Rules 2022 . It focuses on the operational aspects of collection, transportation, recycling of end-of-life EV batteries, secondary usage and EPR.

This training programme is an opportunity for direct engagement with  experts from the EV industry and EV battery recycling industry and includes a range of interactive sessions and an exposure visit to a plant.   

Course content

  • Regulatory framework for reuse and recycling EV battery waste: BWMR 2022 and implementation of EPR.
  • How state level policies can leverage BWMR 2022 to promote the recycling of batteries, implement rules for safe storage, transport and handling of EV batteries etc.
  • Understanding EV battery working and circularity potential of different chemistries
  • Status of the recycling industry, -- technology roadmap, market for recycled material and economics of EV Battery recycling
  • Lessons on EPR implementation from other waste streams
  • Digital data traceability as an enabler: How battery passport policies have taken shape globally and lessons for India

Includes training material, field visit, accomodation, food, travel from Delhi to training centre and back
Rs 18000 per person - single occupancy
Rs 16200 per person - double occupancy

Discount: two or more participants from the same organization can avail a discount of 20%

Note: training is free for the nominated officials except the cost of travel to-and- from New Delhi to be borne by the Nominating Authority.
