Government of Telangana had expressed interest in working with CSE on sustainable building practice. About 35 urban local bodies, administrative officers, engineers, architects and planners participated in a workshop. Issues ranging from SDGs, national policies, ECBC, low-impact development, material science and passive design techniques were discussed.
Led by Additional Commissioner Ms. BharatiHollikeri, IAS, GHMC, the state has requested CSE to capacitate their personnel on the new urban agenda and integrate it in their model building bye laws.
Secondly, Telangana, especially the capital city, is working extensively on affordable housing under the state’s 2BHK scheme. GHMC is the nodal agency for affordable housing and seeing over 50 projects on affordable housing in partnership and in-site slum rehabilitation. The institution had approached CSE to review their current development practice and provide knowledge support focusing on materials, buildings techniques, design and layout, operations and maintenance of the housing stock under construction and in pipeline.
The workshop was the first event of the synergy between two institutions.
