Environmental Impact Assessment in Mines, Tanzania

CSE in collaboration with the National Environmental Management Council (NEMC), Tanzania successfully conducted a three day training programme on EIA in Mines from August 19 to 21, 2019 in Dar Es Salaam.

The programme was followed by a two day consultation on sector specific Terms of Reference and EIA guidelines for linear projects.

Both programmes saw diverse participation by 49 officials from all relevant agencies which include NEMC (HQ and all regions), Ministry of Minerals, Mining Commission, and Ministry of Energy, Tanzania Electric Supply Company Ltd (TANESCO), Tanzania Environmental Experts Association (TEEA) and officials from the Regional Secretariat’s office.

NEMC and CSE have agreed to continue their collaboration in the coming months for development of guidelines and building of capacities to enhance mutual learning.
