It goes unsaid that in order to improve environmental governance, the roles of efficient and worthy Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) along with an equitable growth through proper Social Impact Assessment (SIA) are indispensable. They are not merely tools to assess possible impacts and suggest mitigation for the environmental and social issues, but processes, which if done well, can yield unexpectedly positive results in the form of sustainable and equitable growth.
About the training programme
Aim: The environmental and social challenges in India and Africa are moreover same. Thus, with an objective to improve the existing model of industrialization and to ensure reforms in environmental governance, CSE is organizing a hands-on two week experience sharing workshop on EIA and SIA for Indo-African countries. The aim of this workshop is to facilitate cross-country learning on best practices in EIA and SIA processes with the help of interactive sessions and site visits.
Objective:
To understand environmental challenges in different African nations
To understand EIA/SIA rules and procedures, role and function of regulating authority, role of industry or project proponent, involvement of other stakeholders especially local people.
Improve the existing model of industrialization and to ensure reforms in environmental governance
To understand EIA/SIA process in India and developed world. What Africa can learn from them?

Regulators engaged in EIA/SIA processes in the environmental departments of respective Indo-African countries.

No Registration Fees
Boarding / lodging will be provided by organisers to all the training participants. CSE will provide air tickets (only for African nations) and arrange for the accommodation and other logistics. Only TA/DA has to be sanctioned by nominating state governments/ institutions.
