Warming oceans and drying fisheries

Increasing ocean temperatures adversely affect fishing economies worldwide. Due to rising temperatures, several fish leave to find cooler water to inhabit. A new study finds tropical nations of Northwest African countries vulnerable to this migration of fish. Especially the nations reliant on fishing economies. Moreover, it could not find any policy interventions to help compensate potential losses. Kimberly Oremus, an assistant professor, said researchers were unable to find any law on what happens when a fish leaves a nation’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
