Green CSE

At CSE, the function of buildings is primarily designed for in-house scientific and environmental research and publications on issues pertaining to the environment and development of national and international significance. The Organization is also very proactive in implementing one of the first renewable energy initiatives of 10 kWp Solar Photovoltaic at site-level to generate awareness in Low Carbon and Sustainable Technologies that is evident in its core objective too. CSE’s integrated sustainable building design and modern built form displays the organization’s overall commitment towards the sustainable development.

The Center for Science and Environment (CSE) main building and Anil Agarwal Green College (AAGC), both buildings are designed for optimum energy usage, natural resource conservation and recycling in the whole building performance. Both buildings are institutional; main building CSE and new building AAGC commenced in 2004 standing on a plot area of 1000m2 (45M X 22.2M) size each. The building design exhibits efficient use of green building materials, mix of passive and active cooling techniques and insulated walls, design integrated rainwater harvesting techniques and waste-water recycle, integrated building photovoltaic, and energy efficiency.

CSE moves to its new home in the Tughlakabad Institutional Area, 1992. The original main building and new AAGC exhibit the Green Building features designed by Vastu Shilpa Consultants, Ahmedabad. The building was designed by the renowned Ahmedabad-based Architect B. V. Doshi and Radhika Doshi Katpalia. The buildings were designed according to the green building design compliance criteria used in rating system such as Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) or Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED). Our building has been self-evaluated based on Green Building Performance Criteria and mentioned in following details.
