Gujarat extends state's current wind policy till 2023

The government of Gujarat, has extended the operative period of the state's wind power policy 2016 up to March 2023 or till a new wind power policy is announced, whichever is earlier, incorporating the amended GRs referred at serial no 2, 3, 4 and 5. All other provisions of the Gujarat Wind Power Policy 2016 and amendments thereof shall remain the same.

In an official order, it said, "Wind power projects can play an important role to overcome the power crisis by generating additional power. Considering the high wind power potential existing in the state and the capacity addition achieved so far, it was under consideration by the state government to extend the operative period of the said policy in the interest of the general public to increase the generation capacity of renewable energy in the state."
