Climate change is the most formidable threat the world faces today. Emissions from burning fossil fuels for energy are a major contributor to this crisis. The use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, can replace fossil fuels and mitigate the impacts of a changing climate.
Centre for Science and Environment’s Green Schools Programme (GSP) has been working with school teachers and educators from across India to build understanding and knowledge about climate change, and explore effective ways to teach the subject in classrooms. One of the key initiatives of GSP in this direction is Solar 30. Supported by HIMCOSTE, this programme aims to work exclusively with selected schools in Himachal Pradesh, with the focus on discussions and knowledge-building on solar energy.
This is the fourth workshop in a series for these schools (previous workshops were held in Solan, Nimli, and Kangra), collectively known as Super 30. It will cover a range of topics, including the use of solar energy in daily life, linkages with climate change, solar panel maintenance, and GSP audit procedures. Additionally, it will include an orientation on tracking data for solar power generated by the school’s solar panels.
This Workshop is open only to nominated representatives from schools of Himachal Pradesh, handpicked by HIMCOSTE and GSP.
