Overview
• Commissioned in 2020, it is India’s largest reuse facility and the first to use ozonation for disinfection.
• Recycles municipal secondary treated water into industrial-grade water, reducing fresh water usage by over 13,000 million liters annually. <
 
Treatment Capacity

• Current: 45,000 m³/day (45 MLD)
• Expandable: 60,000 m³/day (60 MLD)

 
Energy Efficiency

Ultra-low specific power requirement of 1.88 kWh/m³.

 
Treatment Process

• Multi-stage scheme including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis (RO), rapid gravity sand filters, and ozonation for disinfection.

 
Water Quality: Treated water meets drinking water standards

• TDS: <70 mg/L
• BOD: Below Detectable Levels (BDL) • COD: BDL
• pH: 6.5–7.5

 
Implementation Model

• Built under Design, Build & Operate (DBO) model by VA Tech Wabag Ltd. and IDE Technologies.
• Includes a 15-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract with CMWSSB.

 
Distribution
• Treated water is stored and disinfected with ozone before being supplied through
• 60 km network to industries via intermediate pumping stations (Pillaipakkam, Vallamvadagal, and Orangadam).
• Distribution to industries managed by SIPCOT.
