April 13, 2015: The GRP team associated in a 3-days media briefing programme organized by the CSE‘s Media Resource Centre in Chhattisgarh. Nearly 40 journalists from 7 states: Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Madhya Pradesh (MP), West Bengal, Orissa, participated in the event.
The meeting included the presentation and discussion on GRP-thermal power rating’s findings, performance of the sector and power plants rated by the GRP from the respective states. A booklet on Green rating of thermal power plants, procedure, findings, state level performances and way ahead was shared with the participants.
On the second day of the event the participants were taken for site visits at Korba (a critically polluted area in Chhattisgarh), for onsite observation and experience of industrial pollution especially from thermal power plants. At the end of this site visit, a local media interaction happened at Korba press club to exchange ideas and observations.
Role of industrial pollution particularly from thermal power stations in the region drove into a major discussion on the third day at Raipur press club also which discussed impending rural crisis. Local print and electronic media covered the event and took bytes/interviews of GRP team.
