June 23, 2015: The GRP team together with the CSE’s Media Resource Centre organized a two day media briefing workshop on June 17-18, 2015 at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The workshop brought together more than 35 journalists from four states - Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
The focus of the workshop was to draw the media’s attention to regional environmental issues especially the ones related to coal-based power plants. The participants were briefed about the environmental impact of thermal power plants and the performance of plants in the four states by the GRP team. Further discussions on pollution control status, environmental impacts, fly ash utilisation in power plants etc. were discussed by experts. The participants were taken on a field trip to Dr.Narala Tata Rao power plant, Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation on the second day.
