CSE has been working with Central Environment Authority (CEA) on various capacity building initiatives since 2011. CSE also signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CEA in March, 2012 to assist CEA in monitoring and compliance of development projects (i.e. EIA), advocate laboratory support and encourage research and knowledge dissemination. Over a period of time, CSE has conducted programmes on EIA, Urban and Industrial Wastewater, Environmental Awareness and Waste Management and has trained over 300 officials in Sri Lanka and more than 30 in India.
On May 22, 2015, CSE and CEA signed the MoU to extend this co-operation for a period of three years and work further on enhancing compliance and monitoring through various capacity building programmes. CSE would also be involved in knowledge dissemination and research activities in this period. The MoU was signed between Eng. J. M. U.
