MoU signing with Rwanda Ministry of Infrastructure on July 2, 2015

On behalf Minister of Infrastructure and Permanent Secretary cum Director General in charge of Policy and Planning - Mr. Stevenson Nzaramba signed on dated: 02 July 2015 for a 3 year partnership with CSE for research and capacity building in energy, water and sanitation sector. 

The partnership allows both institutions to move forward in exploring ways of collaboration - activities like joint research, training, workshops, exhibitions, seminars, and conferences, among other potential areas of co-operation.

CSE Water Programme will provide knowledge support for policy reforms as well as assist Rwanda Ministry of Infrastructure (http://www.mininfra.gov.rw/index.php?id=188) by conducting training programme and/or technical advisory support (for both state and non state practitioners) in identification of pilot project sites, planning and design as well as developing specific guidelines (manual, background working paper for developing relevant policy) for successful implementation of the pilot projects and mainstreaming the same through adequate policy frameworks.  

This partnership will allow both institutions explore relevant perspectives on sustainable water management – mainly on mainstreaming rain water harvesting and other related areas water sensitive design and planning, water and climate change, water efficiency and conservation measures, green technologies for sustainable water management and low impact development, institutional mechanisms, governance and other related cross cutting sectors/ topics.

Rwanda is one of the three countries (other countries are Ghana and Kenya) identified by CSE Water programme for policy reforms and capacity development for mainstreaming sustainable and affordable water management  - in particular rainwater harvesting in Rwanda.
